Prisoners Take Hostages, Possible Explosive Devices, La Morita, Venezuela

At approximately 1135 EST, reports began to emerge from the Centro de Control y Resguardo del Detenido de la PNB in La Morita, Venezuela that at least three prison guards had been taken hostage by prisoners.

By 1146 EST, local authorities reported that they had secured a perimeter and negotiators had arrived on scene. The guards were reportedly taken during a prison riot with unknown demands. By 1205 EST, the prisoners confirmed they wanted to speak with a representative from the Public Ministry, but did not disclose what they wanted.

As of this publication, a resolution has not been reached.
