German Student Reportedly Shoots Classmate, Offenburg, Germany

Update (1112 EST): A child has died from gunshot wounds sustained in a peer shooting at the Waldbach School.

At approximately 0639 EST, initial reports indicated that a large police operation was underway in Offenburg, Germany. The Offenburg Police portal made this announcement:

”On Thursday afternoon, around 12 p.m., there was a large-scale operation in a school in the northern part of Offenburg. A suspect was arrested. The police are on site with strong forces. For their safety, the students currently remain in the classrooms.”

However, by 0700 EST, police confirmed that a male student was arrested for shooting a classmate although, it is not clear if that victim was only wounded or killed as of this publication.
