North Korean Missile Launched Towards South Korea

The South Korean Joint Chiefs has confirmed that the missile launched from North Korea was projected to hit Ullueng-gun, South Korea, before falling into the Sea of Japan. Air raid sirens were deployed in the island community and a shelter in place order was given.

This is the first time such a trajectory has been observed and a major provocation. President Yoon has called for an immediate meeting of the National Security Council. This provocation comes only six hours after the North Korean government called for an immediate cessation of a joint U.S.-South Korean air exercise comprising hundreds of aircraft, “Vigilant Storm”. In fact North Korean Senior Official told press that if “military force was used against us… they would pay a most terrible price”. Reuters reported today that the same officials told press that these exercises would “no longer be tolerated.”
