Nigerian media outlets have just begun announcing that at least 50 Boko Haram militants surrendered to the Nigerian military. Reportedly, the surrender occurred this past Sunday in Damboa, 85 kilometers south of Maiduguri.
Nigerian authorities have also told local news outlets that by the middle of November, approximately 100,000 people have surrendered. Note, this number includes not only Boko Haram fighters but also their families.
