In response to the arrest of BBC journalist Ed Lawrence, the Foreign Office of the UK has summoned the Chinese ambassador to Britain.
The UK government has condemned the arrest and treatment of Lawrence.
The spokesman of China’s foreign ministry, Zhao Lijian asserted that the BBC is playing the victim and that journalists should not engage in activities outside of their role.
