U.S. Embassy Staff on Lockdown Due to Gunfire, Port-au-Prince, Haiti

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has announced a lockdown and restriction of staff to the building after gunfire near the grounds. The message reads below:

“Shots have been fired between police and unknown individuals on 15 Octobre between the Canne à Sucre and U.S. Embassy compounds.  U.S. Embassy personnel are temporarily restricted to the Embassy or residential compounds until further notice.”
