Peruvian Military Base and Police Station Hit by Coordinated Attack

According to an announcement made by the Peruvian Ministry of Defense in the past couple of hours, a military base and a police station were attacked simultaneously in the city of Puno.

At 11:40 a.m. 300 protesters began their attack on the police station. The police manning the station reportedly held back the attacks with nonlethal force but were eventually overwhelmed.

After taking control, the protesters then set fire to sections of the police station.

Photo reportedly of the aftermath at the police station.

While this was occurring, another group of protesters attack the Juli Military Base which is in the same city. However, the protesters apparently did not take control like they did with the police station.

Both of these attacks reportedly left 10 police officers and 10 soldiers injured.
