Ukraine Targets Sevastopol with Explosive Boat Drone

Early Wednesday morning, Ukrainian forces launched an attack against Sevastopol Bay, Crimea, with an explosive boat drone. The target was likely the Sevastopol Naval Base, which is a vital naval repair and command facility for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet operations.

Geolocated footage of the attack shows that the drone detonated near a section of the bay by the “Heroes of Sevastopol” monument, which has no military naval infrastructure. However, Russian naval vessels dock deeper into the bay nearby, which it was likely trying to reach. Footage also shows that the drone was under heavy gunfire, but it remains unclear if the drone detonated on its own or due to being hit.
