Turkey has no shortage of inflammatory remarks at the expense of both its enemies and its allies. The latest of which comes from Turkey’s Interior Minister, Suleyman Soylu, who has claimed that “America continues to lose credibility and the whole world hates America”. Soylu was speaking to a youth rally as Turkey approaches its election in May. He continued by attacking Europe as well, calling them an American pawn.
“there is no Europe. Europe does not exist. America exists. There is nothing special. America continues to lose credibility and the whole world hates America, Europe is America’s pawn in Africa, all African states hate the states that exploit them and turn to their local languages”.
The remarks have yet to see comment from either Europe or the US, but is another drop in an overflowing bucket of divide between Turkey and the West.
