There are emerging reports that military helicopters have been hovering over the American Embassy in the Sudan capital of Khartoum, suggesting that the evacuation of embassy staff has begun.
Three USAF C-130s are also entering Sudanese airspace.
The United States has previously stated that there are no plans for the evacuation of private citizens.
