Russian Fortified Positions Built On Ukrainian Nuclear Reactor Roofs

In a newly released set of images courtesy of MAXAR Technologies’ Satellites, apparent sandbag-fortified Russian fighting positions have been spotted on the roofs of several nuclear reactors at the occupied Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). This is the first time that such defense measures have been integrated with the plant, possibly point towards however not confirming, worries of the need for defense of the plant from a Ukrainian counteroffensive. U.K Defense notes while this does increase the likelihood of damage to ZNPP safety systems, catastrophic damage to the actual reactors is unlikely due to heavy reinforcement that can withstand infantry weapons, however it’s hard to say the extent to this protection against heavier arms.
