As the protests which have gripped France over the past few days continue to escalate, the riots have began to target French Olympic institutions set to be used for the 2024 Olympics. Videos are emerging of fireworks being shot at the Olympic Park in Paris, as well as a fire coming from the Aquatic Centre. Both the GIGN and RAID have been deployed to these sites, as well as a number of cities around the country, as France seeks to bolster its police presence due to the continually deteriorating situation, with the Paris Police HQ stating that they will deploy the GIGN and RAID “Wherever necessary to restore order”.
