Al-Shabaab Claims Responsibility for Suicide Bombing at Somali Military Academy

At least 13 soldiers are dead and another 20 were left wounded following a suicide bombing at the Jalle Siyad military academy in Mogadishu on Monday, which was claimed by al-Shabaab. So far, Somali authorities have no released any official statements about the attack.

Al-Shabaab released a statement, saying that “the operation carried out by a veteran of the Istish-Hadadi faction took place in the center of the camp while the enemy forces were in long queues as they were being ordered to carry out combat operations in some parts of the province.” The terror group further claimed that 73 Somali soldiers were killed and 124 were wounded, although it is important to note that they often inflate death tolls of attacks.
