Wagner Group Says it is Still Active in Africa and Belarus, Dispels Rumors of Closure

The Telegram channel of the late Yevgeny Prigozhin, which acts as one of the official mouthpieces of Wagner Group, has announced that the PMC “has not stopped and continues its work in African and Belarusian areas.”

“There is no talk of any closure of the company. The PMC command still solves all assigned tasks and manages the company.”

“We ask you not to believe rumors and gossip and trust information only from official company channels,” the channel added.

Since the death of Prigozhin, as well as other key command staff, last month, questions have been raised about the future of Wagner Group, especially since it has withdrawn its involvement in Ukraine.

In recent weeks, Wagner Group has been particularly active while backing Malian forces amid increased clashes against Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) rebels and militant elements of Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM). Wagner Group continues to have contracts in Sudan and the Central African Republic as well.
