On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin announced to the Valdai Forum that Russia had successfully carried out a test launch of the nuclear-powered, nuclear-capable SSC-X-9 Skyfall cruise missile.
The test was speculated to have coincided with Putin’s birthday on October 7, as per a NOTAM that was issued, however, it obviously came sooner. The past week had seen other indications of another test launch, such as preparations at a launch facility in Russia’s high north.
So far the test has not been confirmed or commented on by western military or intelligence.
