US CENTCOM has stated they are sending a carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean in order to support Israel. The strike group, headed by the USS Gerald R. Ford, will contain a number of ships including some cruisers and destroyers.

The strike group is not being sent to participate in combat operations. It serves several purposes, however mostly it is as a show of force to dissuade any further parties that may wish to get involved. Additionally, the strike group will be working to prevent any further arms shipments from releasing Gaza, as well as it will be conducting surveillance.
