Helicopter Linked to Drug Trade Seized in Paraguay

Helicopter Linked to Drug Trade Seized in Paraguay

Date:

Three people have been arrested and a helicopter seized in rural Paraguay. The helicopter, a Robinson R66, was reportedly hidden under tents and branches so as to be detected from above. The seizure occurred in what authorities are calling a “mega drug camp”, though no drugs were stored at the location. Fuel for the helicopter, weapons and bulletproof vests were seized at the location.

Anti-drug prosecutor Celso René Morales stated “It is a well-structured group because the way this place was prepared, the use of this aircraft, the amount of fuel, the communication equipment, show that they are a well-structured group,” He also stated that the helicopter was likely being used to traffic drug, to the neighbouring Bolivia.
