According to local reporters, US citizens hoping to evacuate through the Rafah border crossing from Gaza into Egypt have been denied passage until a humanitarian aid is allowed through the Israeli blockade.

The Egyptian government has been been making several diplomatic maneuvers this morning. Egyptian President El-Sisi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan in Cairo, while Egyptian Foreign Minister Shoukry publicly rejected Israeli calls for Gazans to evacuate South of the strip. Egypt is clearly denying the exodus of Gazans into the country over fears of a similar run on the border and influx of fighters into the fragile country, such as what happened in 2005.
