IDF Announces Operations Against Hezbollah in Lebanon

The IDF has announced that it is “now attacking targets of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanese territory,” but did not specify the scope or scale of the operations. It is safe to assume strikes are being carried out by Israeli warplanes and artillery placed along the border.

Over the past few days, clashes along the border have increased drastically between the IDF and Hezbollah.

The announcement comes as Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant stated earlier today that “We have no interest in a war in the north [against Hezbollah]. We don’t want to escalate the situation.”

However, Gallant said that “If Hezbollah chooses the path of war, it will pay a very heavy price. Very heavy. But if it restrains itself, we will respect that and keep the situation as it is.”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out as Hezbollah may open up a larger northern front against Israel as is prepares for a ground assault against Gaza to the south.
