Hamas Announces Possible Hostage Release

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigade, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Saturday that they are “ready to release” two female detainees on the 22nd using the same procedures used to release two American detainees on the 20th.

The two detainees held by Al-Qassam are referred to as “Nurit” and “Yokhved.” However, both their nationalities and personal information are currently unknown.

Al-Qassam previously claimed that Israel refused to accept the pair for unknown reasons.

“We informed our Qatari brothers yesterday evening that we would release the two captives: Nurit Yitzhak ID No. 001145416 and Yocheved Lifshitz ID No. 005236955”, the group announced on Telegram. “We were planning to release both of them due to compelling humanitarian reasons, and we asked for nothing in return. However, the Israeli occupation government refused to receive them both.”

Two American detainees were released yesterday, on the 20th, by Al-Qassam. The group stated the move was in an effort to “prove to the American people that the claims made by Biden and his fascist administration are false and baseless.”

The pair were released at the Israeli-Gaza border to IDF units, who transported them to a nearby military base for their safety.
