One IDF Soldier Killed, Three More Wounded in Gaza Raid

At least one IDF soldier was killed on Sunday while three others were wounded following an ambush by resistance forces during an Israeli raid into Gaza in an effort to retrieve hostages held by Hamas, according to Israeli spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

The soldiers were reportedly ambushed by resistance fighters east of Khan Yunis after entering “several meters” into Gaza, Hamas said in a statement.

The ambush resulted in the destruction of two engineering vehicles as well as a tank, according to Hamas sources. Rear Admiral Hagari confirmed the vehicles had been attacked but made no mention of their destruction.

Hamas fighters utilized anti-tank munitions in their attack before pushing back IDF forces out of the area.

“This is in the framework of the effort to thwart terrorist infrastructure, clear the region from terrorists and weapons, and locate missing persons and bodies.” Rear Admiral Hagari said in a statement, “The IDF shares in the family’s grief and will continue to accompany them at this time.”
