More than 800 Migrants Land in Lampedusa, Italy

Over the course of the day on November 14th, 2023, 808 illegal migrants landed in the port city of Lampedusa which lies South of Sicily and East of Tunisia. 509 persons were identified as Libyan nationals and 299 were identified as Tunisian.

As of September 2023, there were more than 2,800 migrants at the island’s reception center, which is designed to house 400. This surge is part of a disastrous trend as more than 111,850 migrants have entered Italy in 2023, more than double the 66,000 that entered in 2022.
