Russian Major General Reportedly Killed in Ukraine

According to Radio Free Europe, Russian Major General Vladimir Zavadsky was killed on November 28th in a land mine explosion in an undisclosed location in Ukraine. He was the deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps.

A total of 12 Russian generals have been reportedly killed since February 2022. Seven of them were confirmed dead. Before Zavadsky, the last general to die was Oleg Tsokov, he was killed allegedly during an attack on the command post of the 58th Army in Russian-controlled Berdyansk.

The 14th Army Corps is a tactical formation of the Russian Navy formed in 2017 as part of the Northern Fleet. It is the tactical command of the Northern Fleet’s coastal defense troops. A majority of these troops have been deployed to Ukraine from their barracks in the Kola Peninsula in the Arctic.
