Heavy gunfire is being reported throughout Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. Members of the national guard invaded a prison to free Minister of Economy and Finance, Suleimane Seidi and the Secretary of State for the Treasury, António. The location they were taken to is unknown.
Both of these Ministers were under investigation for corruption charges. The magistrate declared them to be under arrest so they would jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
Gunfire was heard around 1:20am local time. Security forces have been moved into the area.
