A joint operation between Somalia and the US over the last few days has scored a number of reported victories against al-Shabaab militants, as per the Somali Ministry of Defence.
They claim to have killed more than 55 militants and wounded 40 more, including several key leaders. One such leader is Maalim Ayman, a senior al-Shabaab leader who orchestrated a number of attacks both in Somalia as well as Kenya.
