Ongoing Fire at Kutupalong Refugee Camp, World’s Largest Camp

A fire is presently (as of 4:00PM EST) ongoing in the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh, which is the worlds largest refugee camp.

So far it is being reported that over 2000 shelters have been destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Kutupalong refugee camp hosts around 600,000 people, and has had several fires occur in recent years. The camp is inhabited by Rohingya refugees, who have fled from persecution in neighbouring Myanmar, the border of which the camp is close to.
