North Korean Missile Launches Confirmed as Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile

As this publication reported earlier this morning, at approximately 0100 EST, a missile launch was detected by Japan and South Korea. The Japanese government has confirmed that two missiles flew approximately 1,000km before landing in the Sea of Japan. Based on the telemetry data, they have classified the missiles as intermediate-range ballistic missiles. They launched from the vicinity of Pyongyang, North Korea.

The Japanese Prime Minister discussed the situation with the Chief Cabinet Secretary on possible retaliations over the launches.
