As this publication covered last week, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was hospitalized at the end of December for prostate cancer. He was then hospitalized again on January 1st due to complications from the December prostatectomy. His absence from his duties was not made public until January 5th, with several officials leaking that the White House was not aware of his hospitalization for several days.
The Secretary has now been released after two weeks at Walter Reed National Medical Center.
