DRC Opposition Leaders Call for National Protest on President’s Inauguration Day

Opposition leaders in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have called for national protests to be held on the inauguration day of DRC President Felix Tshisekedi, who won re-election on the DRC’s December 20th election. The vote, which he won a reported 73% of, has been disputed by opposition leaders who say the election was fraudulent.

Though opposition leaders have rejected the election results, which were validated by the nations’ electoral commission, they neglected to file a legal challenge to dispute the results.

The inauguration, and thus the protests, are set for January 20th.
