CENTCOM Releases Statement on Al-Asad Attack

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that Iran-backed Shia militias carried out an attack against the al-Asad Airbase in Iraq earlier today, which consisted of “multiple ballistic missiles and rockets.”

“Most of the missiles were intercepted by the base’s air defense systems while others impacted on the base. Damage assessments are ongoing.”

CENTCOM also confirmed that “A number of U.S. personnel are undergoing evaluation for traumatic brain injuries” and “at least one Iraqi service member was wounded.”
