Air Ambulance Crashes in Oklahoma, Killing Three Crew Members

Late Saturday night, around 11:30 pm, a transport helicopter crashed just outside Weatherford Oklahoma. The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter went down after losing communication with the control center resulting in the death of three crew members. The team was in the process of a patient care transport mission with an end destination of their helicopter base in Weatherford. The National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into the incident and is withholding the details of the crash site and names of those who lost their lives.

“Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members,” reported the Air Evac Lifeteam in a statement following the crash. Critical Incident Stress Management teams have also been implemented to help others affected by the event and to support company personnel. The crash occurred between 60 and 70 miles west of Oklahoma City. The company services 150 aircraft that carry pilots, patients, nurses, and flight paramedics in 18 different states.
