On January 22, Taiwan detected six Chinese balloons flying over the Taiwan Strait.
All six balloons crossed the straits median line between Taiwan and China.
China does not recognize the median line nor does it recognize Taiwan as a sovereign entity.
Only one balloon passed over Taiwan. It crossed the southern tip of the island, according to the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense.
The other five balloons flew north along the coast of Taiwan, and headed east after passing the northern tip of Taiwan.
