The United States military has approved strike options against Iran-backed militia and IRGC targets in Iraq and Syria, according to CBS, citing officials. When the strikes will commence still remains unknown.
The strikes will come in response to Sunday’s deadly drone attack against the T-22 outpost in Jordan, which killed three American soldiers and wounded dozens of others. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization of Iran-backed militias, claimed responsibility for the attack and Kataib Hezbollah is suspected to have been behind the strike specifically.
Iraq sources, however, have told CBS that some of the militia forces that make up the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have used the past four days to evacuate positions in Iraq and Syria.
