Iraqi Government and Military Condemn American Strikes

The government of Iraq has responded to U.S strikes against Iranian and IRGC-backed militias in Iraq and Syria, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul: “Al-Qaim and Iraqi border towns are hit by air strikes by United States planes, the strikes came at a time when Iraq is striving to ensure the stability of the region. These strikes constitute a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, an undermining of the Iraq government, and a threat that will drag Iraq and the region into undesirable consequences, the consequences of which will be disastrous for security and stability in Iraq and the region.”

This came after NSC spokesperson for the U.S, John Kirby, told reporters that at least three facilities in Iraq used by Iran-linked militias were struck and that the Iraqi government was informed prior.
