YMTC, one of China’s leading memory chip producers, has been added to a list, compiled by the Pentagon, which includes over a dozen other corporations that Washington claims are aiding the Chinese military. In response, YMTC has emphasized that the company is not integrated into the military in any capacity.
“We refute any allegation that we pose a threat to U.S. national security,” stated a spokesperson from YMTC. The company’s technology contributes to high-speed data transfers which according to the U.S. government pose a threat to the nation’s security. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Commerce has blacklisted the company.
