Rheinmetall AG, one of the largest ammunition manufacturers in Europe, has announced plans to open up a new ammunition plant in Ukraine.
Rheinmetall reported that a memorandum of understanding has been signed to set up a 51%/49% joint venture with an unspecified Ukrainian partner company.
In a post made to X, Rheinmetall stated that “six-digit number of 155mm calibre [rounds] to be produced per year, including propelling charges.” This is particularly important for Ukraine as artillery ammunition shortages have been a persistent issue in recent months.
