U.S. Rep. Gallagher Arrives in Taiwan, Alongside Delegation

On February 22, U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher, along with a delegation, met with both the Taiwanese President-Elect Lai Ching-te as well as current Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, in Taipei City, Taiwan.

The delegation was led by Rep. Mike Gallagher, the Republican chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, the ranking Democrat on the committee.

Rep. Gallagher was quoted saying, “Time and again Taiwan has shown the world how to stand up to the CCP’s bullying and not only survive, but thrive.”

The delegation discussed U.S.-Taiwan relations, regional security, and trade.

These talks come at a time of high tensions between Taiwan and China, as well as tensions between China and the United States.
