Taliban Carries Out Three Public Executions of Convicted Murders Over the Past Week

The Taliban has carried out a public execution at a sports stadium in northern Jawzjan province of a man convicted of murder on Monday, marking the third execution this week.

The other two executions were carried out by family members of the victims at a stadium in Ghazni in front of thousands of onlookers, according to Taliban police officials.

In a statement by the Taliban-run Supreme Court of Afghanistan, the executions were approved by the three highest Taliban courts, as well as the Taliban supreme leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Overall, this marks the fifth public execution since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021 following the withdrawal of international forces.
