Anti-Kremlin Russian Volunteers Infiltrate Russia

On March 12, the anti-Kremlin rebel Russian unit known as the Freedom of Russia Legion announced that they were engaged in a “special liberating operation” alongside other anti-Kremlin Russian volunteer units in the Belogrod and Kursk oblasts, as reported by Newsweek.

Ilya Ponomarev, a former member of the Russian Duma, and the political leader of The Freedom of Russia Legion, announced that the attacks were carried out by his group in a joint operation between the Siberian Battalion and the Russian Volunteer Corps

These attacks occurred just days before the Russian presidential elections.

Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukraine’s military intelligence, said that the rebel groups were not acting under orders from Kyiv.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence said that its forces had repelled the attacks of “Ukrainian terrorist groups” according to a released statement.

After the attacks occurred in the Kursk region, schools in the region switched to online classes, according to the TASS news agency.

This is developing.
