“Very Senior” Israeli Government Official Accuses US Government of Seeking to Oust Netanyahu

On March 12, the Times of Israel reported that a US intelligence report that warned that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government “may be in jeopardy” due to the management of the Israel-Hamas war, provoked an accusatory response by a “very senior” Israeli official.

The intelligence report also stated that “Israel probably will face lingering armed resistance from Hamas for years to come…”

In response to the brief, the Israeli official published a anonymous statement saying “Those who elect the prime minister of Israel are the citizens of Israel and no one else” and “We expect our friends to act to overthrow the terror regime of Hamas and not the elected government in Israel”

When Israeli news channel, Channel 12 reported on the statement, they reported that the statement originated from “the most senior Israeli political source you can imagine”, indicating that Netanyahu himself released the statement.

The US intelligence report allegedly left the Israeli prime minister “fuming” according to Channel 12.

This comes as the high number of civilian casualties stemming from Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip has caused an international uproar, and criticism from some of Israel’s closest allies.

This is developing.
