Geolocation of Transnistria Drone Attack, Targeted Helicopter Unused for 20 Years

Earlier today, Transnistria reported that an explosive drone attack targeted a military helicopter near the regional capital of Tiraspol, resulting in its destruction. Local media insinuated that the drone came from Odessa, thus placing blame on Ukraine.

The footage, which appears to show an FPV drone attack, has been geolocated to the Tiraspol airport at 46°52’20.54″N,  29°35’6.69″E. Footage also shows that the helicopter is missing a window, suggesting it is likely decommissioned. This is backed by satellite imagery showing that the helicopter has been sitting there since at least 2003.

With this, the drone attack was likely carried out by a nearby operator and targeted a helicopter not used in over two decades.
