Russian Governor in Murmansk Region Stabbed

Russian-state outlet TASS has confirmed local reports that the governor of the Murmansk region, Andrey Chibis, was stabbed today during an attack in the city of Apatity but survived the attempt on his life and underwent a one-hour-long surgery. The attacker was detained by law enforcement as Alexander Bydanov, who is reportedly a resident of Apatity. The reasons for the attack are still unknown. Some Telegram channels, apparently without evidence, began to claim that the reason Alexander attacked the governor was because he “heard voices,” but reportedly, according to TASS, he was not registered in any psychiatric care.
