Ukrainian Drone Swarm Attack on Russian Airfield

The governor of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation confirmed reports that a swarm drone attack was underway in the Morozovsky district, saying, “In the Morozovsky region, air defense units are repelling a massive UAV attack.” This came after Russian milbloggers and local Telegram channels began to report over an hour ago, at around 1 a.m. local time, that many explosions could be heard in Morozovsky, reportedly with at least 15 explosive kamikaze drones being targeted at the military airfield there, according to local residents interviewed. At 2:13 a.m. local time the governor wrote again on Telegram that: “According to preliminary data, air defense forces destroyed more than 40 targets in the Morozovsky region. As a result of the attack, an electrical substation was damaged. Work is underway to restore power supply.”

The Morozovsky airfield reportedly houses Su-34 fighterbombers, and as of March 14th, satellite imagery organized by Twitter user MT_Anderson showed many visible Su-34s as well as other aircraft.
