Angola Committed to the Creation of an African Space Program

On April 5, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, announced that Angola is “committed to working with everyone to develop our national space program”, according to Angop News Service. This was announced at the 3rd African Space Conference. 

The minister also announced that Angola is leading an effort to build a satellite alongside of multiple nations in the south of Africa. 

The 3rd African Space Conference was attended by representatives of 54 countries, and by members of numerous space agencies from around the globe. 

This comes as global interest in space has greatly increased over the last couple of decades. The development of an African space program would place the nations of Africa in a influential role in the development of space.
