Angara-5 Rocket Successfully Launches, Amur Oblast, Russian Federation

As this publication reported on April 9th, 2024, the Angara-5 rocket launch from Vostochny Cosmodrome in Uglegorsk, Amur Oblast was cancelled a mere two minutes from launch due to issues with an oxidizer tank. By April 10th, 2023, Roscosmos head Borisov clarified that a “software error” caused the engine failure.

However, at approximately 0500 EST this morning, the Angara-5 has successfully lifted off and reached orbit. According to Russian state-owned media, after initial boost phase lasting 12 minutes and 26 seconds, the Orion upper stage activated, delivering the launch vehicle to orbit. This launch reportedly did not have a payload to be delivered.
