Albania Looks for NATO Investment to Revive Soviet Munition Plants

On April 19, Albanian Defense Minister Niko Peleshi announced that the country’s government has aimed to revive three weapons and ammunition production facilities, due to the increase in conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, as reported by Defense News.

The Defense Ministry of Albania has already begun to collaborate with the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO) Support and Procurement Agency to revive the plants, according to Defense Post.

Albania has also recently reopened an airbase in Kucova, an endeavor that was completed jointly with NATO.

The need for munitions has increased greatly across Europe, as many nations have donated large stockpiles to the Ukrainian war effort.

Also due to the Ukrainian war, many European nations have revitalized their national defense industries.
