Brother of Jalisco New Generation Cartel Leader Captured

On April 22, Mexican authorities announced that they had arrested Abraham Oseguera, known as “Don Rodo”, the brother of accused drug lord Nemesio Oseguera, known as “El Mencho”. 

El Mencho is the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), arguably the most powerful cartel in Mexico. Assets of the CJNG are said to be worth over $20 billion, according to the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism

The arrest was carried out by members of the Mexican National Guard, in the state of Jalisco. 

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has offered $10 million for information leading to the capture of El Mencho, according to Telemundo. 

Telemundo also reported that CJNG has a serious presence in 28 of the 32 states of Mexico.
