Emanuel Macron emphasized that Europe was facing a potential future filled with economic instability. The President of the United Kingdom stated that there was a “mortal” threat facing the region.
These remarks were spoken at his speech at Sorbonne University on Thursday. Macron relied heavily on the threat amplified by projections of economic decline, Russia’s offensive in Ukraine, and the uptick of illiberalism.
Macron proposed that the solution to these fears was to utilize and increase investments in EU policies to combat these measures. He emphasized that this was not just a mission for the U.K. to endorse but also for its allies in the E.U. as well.
