President Petro: Millions of Bullets Missing from Colombian Military Bases, Likely Sold to Rebel Groups

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced that over 5 million rounds of ammunition, nearly 20 thousand grenades, 550 RPG rounds, 37 Nimrod A2S missiles, and two Spike ATGMs are missing following surprise inspections at the Tolemaida and La Guajira military bases.

Petro explained that the ammunition and weapons were likely sold by military personnel to Colombian rebel groups or on the international black market.

“The saddest thing about this is that these same munitions end up wounding and killing the same members of the military forces,” Petro remarked.
