Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Effort to Oust Speaker Johnson Fails

On May 8th, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene triggered a vote to remove Speaker of the House Mike Johnson from his position, however, the motion failed dramatically.

The final tally for the vote to dismiss Speaker Johnson was 359-43. 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats voted against killing Representative Greene’s motion, according to ABC News.

This vote by Representative Greene comes soon after Speaker Johnson pushed for a major foreign aid package that would benefit Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine. Many hardline conservatives objected to this, including Representative Greene.

Former president and current presidential candidate, Donald Trump, supported the vote to kill the motion, according to CNN.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said “I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene … However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country”.
